Group Seattle
Coast Guard Group Seattle is located on the Seattle waterfront at the Coast Guard facilities at Pier 36. The Group has a variety of resources available throughout the Puget Sound region that entails a challenging area of responsibility. The region has a large number of pleasure boats and is a major hub of commercial maritime traffic on the Pacific Northwest coast. As a result, Group Seattle coordinates a large number of SAR cases in the local area.
Group Seattle is responsible for the area bounded by the U.S. Canadian border through the Strait of Georgia, and along the San Juan Islands. The AOR then runs east to West Point, Whidbey Island, then along the western shore of Whidbey Island to the southern tip of Double Bluff, and from there west to encompass all of southern Puget Sound.
