250 MORE IRAQI POLICE OFFICERS GRADUATE FROM V CORPS-RUN INTEGRATION PROGRAM

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- The city of Baghdad has 250 newly trained Iraqi Police thanks to the to soldiers of the 18th Military Police Brigade. December 8, 2003 marked the 7th graduation from Iraqi Police Integration Program. Bringing the total of graduates to 1,395 since the program started back on June 28, 2003.

The guest of honor for the graduation was Combined Joint Task Force-7 Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Jon Gallinetti, who congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to operate using the techniques they learned in the program.

Iraq's Senior Deputy Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Ahmid Ibrahim, also spoke at the graduation. He thanked the 18th's commander, Col. Teddy R. Spain, and other 18th MP soldiers for the support they have given to the Iraqi officers. Chief Constable of Hampshire Constabulary of the United Kingdom, Paul R. Kernaghan, also made remarks at the ceremony.

Ibrahim, Gallinetti and IPIP instructors from the 382nd Law and Order MP Detachment, awarded graduation certificates to the police members.

The IPIP, run by the brigade's Capt. Jason R. Brandt, is based on worldwide standards for human rights, and focuses on teaching procedural laws and arrest and detention techniques. The course covers 38 different subjects.

"This course was a great benefit to us," said one graduate. "It was a great feeling of knowledge and a good start for a beautiful future."
