KABUL, Afghanistan -- Coalition forces near Khowst, while on patrols Saturday, discovered three weapons caches consisting of approximately 1000 large and 1500 small caliber machine gun rounds and various other munitions.
Sunday, in an example of coalition cooperation and the success of our security strategy, the Ghazni Provincial Reconstruction Team received word of a cache. They turned that information over to the US Infantry Battalion at Ghazni, and 10th Mountain Division soldiers from that battalion recovered the cache consisting of approximately 10 anti-tank mines, 10 mortar rounds, 10 rocket propelled grenades, and 100 30mm grenades.
Also Sunday, soldiers from the 10th Mountain Division's 3rd Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment while clearing a building in Kandahar found a cache with 2000 Enfield rifles, 50 mortar rounds, 50 cases of 23mm anti-aircraft rounds, and various other munitions.
