BAGHDAD, Iraq - The first session of a premeditated-murder hearing for a Task Force Baghdad Soldier was held Oct. 21 at the Camp Liberty Court House.
The Article 32 investigating officer heard defense and prosecuting statements as well as 11 witnesses during the session. The investigating officer will provide recommendation to the convening authority as to whether there is enough evidence to try Staff Sgt. Alban of C Company, 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, and one other Soldier in his company are accused of conspiracy to commit murder. Alban's case is the first to be heard.
If tried and convicted, Alban could face a minimum punishment of life in prison, and a maximum of the death penalty.
