Russia to showcase high-tech arms at IDEX-2007 in UAE
16/02/2007 17:36 MOSCOW, February 16 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's leading defense companies will roll out an array of modern military technologies at an international exhibition in the United Arab Emirates that opens February 18, a spokesman for the state arms export monopoly said Friday.
The International Defense Exhibition (IDEX) will be held in the country's capital Abu Dhabi February 18-22.
According to Rosoboronexport, Russian defense companies will show off a diversity of air defense complexes and radar reconnaissance systems, including the S-300PMU2, Favorite, and Antei-2500 long-range surface-to-air missile systems.
They will also display modern helicopter gun-ships and their entire line of non-nuclear powered submarines, as well as surface warships - destroyers, frigates, escort vessels and patrol boats.
The naval part of the exposition will feature information on coast-based missile and artillery systems, target identification and designation complexes, and information processing systems.
Last year, over 40 Russian defense companies and organizations displayed about 500 units of high-performance weaponry and military equipment, precision instruments, and ammunition for almost all branches of service.
