Iran, China hold joint naval exercise 'successfully'

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Deputy Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Gholamreza Khadem Bigham said Iranian Navy and the 17th Flotilla of Chinese Navy held a joint exercise 'successfully.'

'We obtained our goals in the exercise,' he told ISNA, adding fleet berthing in Iranian ports stage joint drills with Iranian Navy at the time of their exit.

The 17th Flotilla of Chinese Navy has already berthed in Abbas Port, Southern Iran for the first time.

The flotilla includes Changchun Cruiser and Changchu Destroyer which berthed in the Iranian port in a bid to boost interactions between the two countries.

It was returning a mission in the Gulf of Aden when it stopped in Iran.

The 24th flotilla of Iranian Navy was dispatched to China in March 2013.
