The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take immediate action to halt the Israeli regime's ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas said the regime's actions in the besieged Palestinian territory constitute blatant war crimes and grave violations of international law.
Hamas made the appeal in a statement on Tuesday, following Israeli airstrikes that targeted two separate neighborhoods in Gaza, resulting in the tragic deaths of 21 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
The resistance group condemned these atrocities as revealing Israel's "criminal fascist character," saying they clearly constitute war crimes under international law.
Hamas also underscored the pressing need for the UNSC to intervene, halt the brutal genocide, and hold the perpetrators accountable.
Furthermore, it said the United States' obstruction of international mechanisms meant to address these brutal violations only adds to the complicity in these crimes against humanity, a legacy that history will not forgive.
Hamas also pointed out that the systematic devastation of neighborhoods in Gaza, carried out through extensive air bombardments and drones laden with explosives targeting residential areas, represents a profound breach of both international and humanitarian laws.
It also said the Israeli regime is indiscriminately assaulting innocent civilians, particularly in Gaza City, as part of a disturbing agenda focused on genocide and forced displacement through acts of massacre and devastation.
The resistance group also urged the Arab and Islamic nations to take decisive action and apply pressure to end the occupying regime's ongoing genocidal campaign in Gaza, and to confront its destabilizing projects that threaten security and stability in the broader region.
Earlier in the day, Israeli airstrikes hit a residential building in the Daraj neighborhood of Gaza City, claiming the lives of over ten civilians, mostly women and children.
In a separate attack in the Mawasi area near Khan Younis, 11 individuals were killed, including seven children, while they were collecting water, according to Hamas.
According to the health ministry of Gaza, more than 63,557 Palestinians have been killed and 160,660 wounded in Gaza since October 2023, when Israel launched its genocidal war on the besieged territory.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is investigating Israel for genocide, while Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former war minister, Yoav Gallant, are facing arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court (ICC) for committing war crimes in Gaza.
