Headquarters 14th Air Force - A-3/5, Operations and Plans
The A-3/5 is the principal staff assistant responsible for directing and controlling space operations and staff support for operational issues and planning. The A-3/5 is the Director of the Aerospace Operations Center (AOC) and is dual-hatted as the commander of the 614th Space Operations Group.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Organize the operational aspects of the headquarters staff;
- Coordinate operational issues with USSPACECOM/J-3 or staff and component staffs;
- Identify essential elements of information with A-2;
- Identify Air Force training requirements and coordinate joint training with other components and supported commands;
- Advise COMSPACEAF on concepts of employment, force planning and management of weapon systems for which he has OPCON/TACON or has established supported/supporting relationships;
- Through the SPACEAF Aerospace Operations Center's Strategy Division, direct the crisis action planning process;
- Develop appropriate contingency plans, functional plans and support plans for employment of assigned and attached units;
- Ensure the currency of the SPACEAF Battle Management Schedule;
- Produce the Air Force Space Operations Plans (AFSOPs);
- Produce a daily Space Tasking Order to task assigned and attached forces and provide decentralized execution of his assigned and attached forces;
- Advise COMSPACEAF on force protection issues; and
- Conduct information operations.
