Symposium Paper Highlights Lockheed Martin's Unique G-STAR(tm) GPS Anti-Jam Technology

Systems Integration - Owego Senior System Engineer Jim Naylor Presents Overview of Most Advanced GPS Anti-Jam Technology Available Today"

OWEGO, NY, November 15th, 2000 -- In answer to the growing concern by commercial and civil communities over the vulnerability of the Global Positioning System (GPS) to many forms of interference, Lockheed Martin, in conjunction with Rockwell Collins, has developed G-STAR(tm)', a unique breakthrough Spatial Temporal Anti-Jam Receiver technology. G-STAR provides significantly more anti-jam capability than is offered by other systems today and is flexible to address a wide range of applications. James Naylor, a senior system engineer at Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego, today will present his paper entitled "G-STAR' -- Lockheed Martin's Advanced Global Positioning System (GPS) Anti-Jam Technology" during the 22nd Annual Lockheed Martin Technology Symposium held at the National Press Club, Washington, D.C.

Naylor's paper addresses the growing dependency on GPS for diverse military and commercial applications; the vulnerability of GPS to intentional and unintentional interference; and the need for G-STAR Spatial Temporal Anti-Jam Receiver technology to ensure the availability of GPS in the presence of many forms of interference. In addition, the paper traces the evolution of G-STAR and provides an overview of the system architecture.

During the presentation, Naylor will explain how the use of Spatial Temporal Adaptive Processing or STAP has enabled G-STAR to provide unsurpassed anti-jam performance and how the design objectives and system architecture purposely allow G-STAR to be modular, digital, scalable and re-programmable to address the commercial market as well as the full range of military systems.
