TEXT: Indian authorities say three separatist militants and a boy were

killed in Indian-administered Kashmir Wednesday, during an operation

to rescue about a dozen young people who Indian troops say were being

forcibly taken to Pakistan. The incident occurred as Indian authorities

clamped an indefinite curfew on Jammu, Kashmir's winter

capital, following the deaths of 11 people Tuesday night in a guerrilla

attack on the city's railway station. V-O-A's Jim Teeple has more from

our New Delhi Bureau.

TEXT: Authorities say the curfew imposed on Jammu and the nearby

garrison town, Udhampur, is designed to prevent revenge attacks against

Muslims by Hindus incensed over the railway station attack.

Tensions are high in India's Jammu and Kashmir State. More than 200

people have been killed in the troubled territory since a

summit last month between the leaders of India and Pakistan ended in

acrimony and without any agreement on how to pursue an end to the

Kashmir dispute. Both countries claim Kashmi, its entirety.

Senior Indian officials in New Delhi are reviewing the security

situation in Kashmir in a series of high-level meetings. Officials are

concerned about more high-profile attacks by separatist militants in the

days leading up to India's Independence Day celebrations, August

15th. (Signed)
