Islamabad, June 17, IRNA -- Pakistani fighter planes pounded a suspected al-Qaeda hide out in the country`s tribal area on Thursday in a fresh offensive amid reports of clashes between `foreign` militants and Pakistani troops, a military spokesman and local correspondents said. The latest air strike was conducted in Angoor Adda, a small town in South Waziristan, near Afghan border. The bombing was carried out around 7 a.m., according to witnesses. There was no report of casualty. Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan, the army spokesman said that skirmishes between the suspected foreign militants and security forces continued on Thursday. He said hideouts of the miscreants will be destroyed whenever they information is received about such places. Sultan said that more than 10 foreign miscreants have been captured in the recent operation. Local correspondents and residents say they have seen around 25 helicopters of the Pakistan Army taking part in the operation near Angoor Adda, located about 60 kilometers to the west of Wana. Sultan added that the military is searching for the miscreants, who are attacking security forces. He said Wednesday night the armed suspects again attacked a paramilitary check-post, but there was no casualty. While facing strong retaliation, the spokesman said, the miscreants have suffered heavy losses, leaving behind two bodies and the militants were also seen taking the bodies of their colleagues. One paramilitary official was killed in this operation, the general said. The military spokesman also made it clear that force will be used against the foreign militants according to the circumstances, and they `will not be let to set up their strongholds`. "Whenever the forces come to know about the hideouts of the suspected foreigners, they initiate action." The new operation in Angoor Adda came when another offensive in South Waziristan ended at the start of this week. At least 72 people, including Pakistani troops, were killed in that offensive which began June 9 and ended on Monday. AHM-TK/TSH/2322/1432
