Pakistan president satisfied with talks with India

Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf on Friday expressed satisfaction that the second round of the Composite Dialogue between Pakistan and India has completed with some positive developments.

The president was talking to Shyam Saran, foreign secretary of India, who paid a courtesy call on him.

Referring to his meeting with the Indian Prime Minister in April this year, he said that the improved atmospherics had created conducive environment to make real progress on all issue particularly the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, a Foreign Office statement said.

The president hoped that end in human rights violations and withdrawal of troops from the urban centers would help great deal in raising the comfort level of the Kashmiri people.

He emphasized the need to address the Kashmir dispute in a focused manner and seek a final settlement acceptable to Pakistan, India and the people of Kashmir.

"Progress on this issue would facilitate progress on other issues."
The president said that he looks forward to his meeting with the Indian prime minister later this month in New York.

The Indian foreign secretary conveyed the greetings of the Indian president and the prime minister to the president and said that his government was committed to the peace process and was keen to see progress in the composite dialogue between the two countries, the statement said.
