Foreign-backed militants in Syria have assassinated the governor of the Syrian city of Hama, Anas Abdul Razaak Na'em, Syrian TV reports.
Na'em was killed in the militants’ car bomb attack in the Jarajma district on Sunday, the Syrian television said.
Foreign-backed militants in Syria have carried out many similar assassinations over the past two years.
Politicians, army officers and journalists supporting the Syrian government have fallen victim to such attacks.
According to Syria’s official SANA news agency, the government forces have destroyed militants’ hideouts in the western city of Homs, killing many foreign-sponsored militants.
Clashes also reportedly erupted in the northern city of Aleppo, with army soldiers repelling armed groups trying to attack a local hospital.
In Hama countryside, Syrian soldiers arrested a number of militants and seized their weapons after storming their dens. One militant was killed during the operation.
Syria has been gripped by a deadly unrest since March 2011.
The United Nations says more than 100,000 people have been killed and a total of 7.8 million others displaced since the outbreak of the violence.
