Hadid Artillery Factory (HAF)

The artillery "the god of war" occupies an important position in the Iranian army. Iran attaches great importance to the construction of artillery and spares no effort to "develop" (actually imitation). All kinds of artillery are the most intuitive manifestation of Iran attaching importance to artillery construction. The reason why Iran attaches importance to artillery construction is because of the influence of Soviet/Russian "cannon" military thoughts.

On the other hand, the Iran-Iraq war has deeply reinforced the great power of the "God of War". During the war, The Iraqi artillery has caused the Iranian army to suffer a lot. In July 1983, in the second siege of the Iranian army to attack the Iraqi town of Basra, the strength of a division of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard was defeated by two GCT self-propelled howitzers of the Iraqi army. The entire division was defeated by two self-propelled howitzers. This battle really gave Iran a lesson.

After the war, the Iranian Defense Industry Organization (DIO) established the Hadid Artillery Factory (HAF), a comprehensive enterprise integrating scientific research, production and security. It is also an important military enterprise for the development and production of Iranian artillery weapons. Since the establishment of the Hadid Artillery Factory, a variety of different types of artillery have been developed using a combination of self-research and the introduction of foreign artillery techniques. The products include rockets, mortars, howitzers and anti-aircraft guns of various calibers. Thunder "-1", "Thunder"-2, "Darius" self-propelled howitzer is the proud of the Hadid artillery factory.

Whether it is the "Thunder"-2 crawler-type self-propelled howitzer announced at the beginning of this century, or the "Tarius" vehicle gun that appeared in 2013, its combat skill level only reached the level of the 1970s and 1980s, due to the artillery itself. There is limited room for performance improvement, and Iran has only turned its attention to ammunition.

In January 2013, Iran showed its latest "masterpiece" - "God Eye" laser-guided projectiles. It is reported that the "God Eye" guided projectile was reversely imitated by Iran on the basis of the Russian "Red Land" 152 mm laser-guided projectile. The shell has a diameter of 155 mm, a length of about 1.3 m and a weight of 50-51 kg. The warhead is About 20 kilograms of the killing blast warhead, with a range of about 20 kilometers. The successful development of the "God Eye" laser-guided projectile has greatly improved the precision strike capability of the Iranian Army artillery, allowing these large-caliber artillery with relatively backward performance to "welcome their second spring." The gun can also be another weapon for Iran to block the Strait of Hormuz. During the war, Iran’s squadrons of speedboats can carry the "God Eye" guided projectile's laser target illuminator to provide guidance for the "God Eye" projectile. Combat the ships entering the strait and play the role of "proximity shore-ship missiles."
