CG-131 Miaoli 1000-ton patrol and rescue ship
The 1000-ton patrol and rescue ship was built for the Maritime Patrol Agency of the Republic of China Oceanographic Commission in accordance with the "Strengthening Marine Patrol Assembly Development Plan". The manufacturing plant is Jade Yacht Co., Ltd. Compared with the previous 1,000-ton frigate ships, they are longer, larger, and more resistant to waves. At the same time, they are equipped with 4 high-pressure water cannon with a horizontal range of up to 120 meters. The water cannons, of which two water cannons at the rear, have both fire-fighting foam extinguishing functions, which not only can effectively enhance the energy of law enforcement and fishery protection in my country's seas, but also perform maritime rescue missions, and are committed to being the guardian of Taiwan's sea territory.
The 1,000-ton Miaoli (CG-131) are constructed of steel and aluminum alloy upper structures; total length: 87.6 meters; ship width: 12.8 meters; maximum draft: 5.4 meters; Safe navigation draft: 6 meters; gross tonnage is 2018 yons. The main engine output is 2 x 7280kw; seakeeping: 9; maximum speed: 24 knots; cruising speed 15 knots; endurance: 6000 miles. The main armament is 1 20mm cannon and 1 40mm fast gun. The 1,000-ton frigate will also be equipped with the 2.75-inch rocket "Zhenhai Rocket" system developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences to replace the 40 quick guns. They are equipped with high-pressure water cannons with a maximum range of 120 meters, The high-pressure water guns are driven by the main engine. President Ma promoted the "Strengthening Marine Patrol Assembly Development Plan". The "1000-ton frigate construction project" of the Marine Patrol Agency's Fleet Sub-Administration completed the bidding operation on May 3, 2010. The procurement was handled in the most favorable way. The internal and external committee members selected and referred to the actual performance of the shipyard and the agency. According to the demand, the Taiwan shipping company is selected to undertake the case. This type of ship is planned to build 6 ships with a total cost of 6.24 billion yuan.
The Marine Patrol Agency's fleet branch Sub-director Xie Qingqin and Taiwan International Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. In the implementation of the "Strengthening Marine Patrol Assembly Development Plan", the Coastal Patrol Administration of the Executive Yuan planned to build four 1,000-ton patrol and rescue ships, of which the first "Miaoli Ship" was launched 04 November 2014 at the Kaohsiung Gaoding Shipbuilding Company’s Xingao Factory. In the future, the "Miaoli Ship" will be deployed in the Central Region's mobile maritime patrol team under the General Administration of Marine Patrol. In addition to carrying out law enforcement and fishing protection tasks in the Central Seas, it will support Penghu and Kinmen waters in the future, greatly increasing the patrol energy of the Taiwan Strait. After the "Miaoli Ship" was launched, it still required to carry out relevant training for the ship receiving personnel according to the established plan. It was expected to start duty after the ship is delivered in June 2015.
The Fleet Division stated that the first 1,000-ton frigate will be assigned to the Penghu Marine Patrol in priority to perform duties in Penghu waters such as fishing protection, banning cross-border operations, and smuggling and smuggling, effectively cracking down on illegally operating ships. The fleet branch will gradually build up maritime patrol energy, steadily promote the national shipbuilding policy, effectively defend my country's sovereignty and fishing rights, and ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
