Russo-Ukraine War - 09 October 2025 - Day 1324

A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

"To initiate a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." [Judgment of the International Military Tribunal]

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in total, 199 combat clashes have taken place since the beginning of this day. Ukrainian defenders continue to decisively interrupt the attempts of the Russian enemy to advance deep into Ukrainian territory, giving him a fiery impression.

Russian zagarbniki made 55 aviation strikes, dropping 120 controlled bombs. In addition, 1848 kamikaze drones were recruited for impressions and carried out 3018 shelling positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.

Seven combat clashes took place in the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursky directions. The Russian enemy launched ten air strikes, dropped a total of 31 guided air bombs and carried out 116 artillery shells, including two from reactive arsenal systems.
Today, Russian forces attacked 23 times in the South Slobozhansky direction in the areas of Vovchansky, Vovchanskih Hutoriv, Stroivka, Western, Dovgenky, Kamyanka and towards Dvorichansky, Kolodyazny and Bologivka. Still, three clashes remain unfinished.
In the Kupyans зіkomu direction, the Russian opponent made eight attacks in the areas of Stepova Novoselivka, Kupyanska, Petropavlivka and Ivanivka, one confrontation is ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces repelled ten assault actions in the areas of the settlements of Kopanka, Karpivka, Kolodyazi, Novoselivka and towards the ponds. One battle clash is still going on.
In the Slavic direction, the Russian enemy 11 times attacked in the areas of yampol, serebryanka, novoselívki, viimki and pereíznogo.
Since the beginning of the day in the Kramators ріkomu direction, units of Russians twice attacked in the areas of Chasovoye Yar and Orihovo-Vasilivka.
19 combat clashes took place in the Konstantinivsky direction today. The Russian enemy tried to storm the positions of Ukrainian units in the areas of Bila Gora, Scherbinivka, Rusynoy Yar, Poltavka and towards Pleschievka.
In the Pokrovsky direction since the beginning of this day, the Russian enemy attacked 54 times in the areas of settlements Volodymyrivka, Novotoretske, Nikanorivka, Rodinske, Sukhetske, Novoekonomíčne, Peace lover, Novosergiyivka, Ray, Fox, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Kotline, Udačne, Kotlyarivka, Gorihove and Philia. Ukrainian defenders hold the pressure of the opponent.
Today in this direction, according to preliminary data, 197 occupants were defecated, of which 145 - irrevocably. In addition, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed three combat armored cars, two units of automobile equipment and 69 unmanned aircraft. Also Ukrainian warriors hit six personnel shelters and two vehicles of the Russian enemy.
In the Oleksandrivsky direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 28 attacks of Russian invaders in the areas of settlements Ivanivka, Piddubne, Oleksandrograd, Sichneve, Sosnivka, Vorone, Berezove, Novovasilivka, Novogrigorivka, Malinivka and Poltavka. Ten more combat clashes are underway.
In the direction of Gulyaipils дійkomu, the Russian enemy did not carry out offensive actions.
In the Orihivsky direction, the Russian occupiers tried to advance three times at the position of Ukrainian troops in the area of Stepovoye and towards Novoandriivka.
In the Pridniprovsky direction, Russian units made four futile attempts to attack the positions of Ukrainian units.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

The Sever Group of Forces inflicted fire damage on three mechanised brigades, an assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and a territorial defence brigade close to Korchakovka, Alekseyevka, Yastrebinoye, and Kondratovka (Sumy region).

In Kharkov direction, units of a mechanised brigade and a motorised infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been hit near Volchansk and Obukhovka (Kharkov region).

The AFU lost up to 195 troops. Four armoured fighting vehicles, eight motor vehicles, seven artillery guns, and seven ammunition and materiel depots were neutralised.

The Zapad Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions. Russian troops engaged two mechanised brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a territorial defence brigade, and a national guard brigade near Petrovka, Kurilovka, Kupyansk (Kharkov region), Stary Karavan, Svyatogorsk, and Krasny Liman (Donetsk People's Republic).

The enemy losses amounted to up to 230 troops, six armoured fighting vehicles including three U.S.-made M113 armoured personnel carriers. Eighteen motor vehicles, two artillery guns, seven electronic warfare stations, and seven ammunition depots were neutralised.

The Yug Group of Forces improved the tactical situation. Strikes were delivered at three mechanised brigades, an airmobile brigade, a mountain assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and a territorial defence brigade near Druzhkovka, Privolye, Kramatorsk, Seversk, and Konstantinovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

The enemy lost up to 125 troops, a German-made Leopard tank, and three armoured fighting vehicles including one U.S.-made HMMWV armoured vehicle, and a Canadian-made Senator armoured vehicle. Twenty-one motor vehicles, three artillery guns, two electronic warfare stations, and five ammunition and materiel depots were neutralised.

The Tsentr Group of Forces' units improved the situation along the front line. Strikes were delivered at manpower and hardware of three mechanised brigades, an airborne brigade, an air assault brigade, a jaeger brigade of the AFU, a marine brigade, and a territorial defence brigade close to Belitskoye, Shevchenko, Rubezhnoye, Grishinovo, Sergeyevka, Annovka, and Krasnoarmeysk (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses amounted to more than 520 troops, two Kazak armoured fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles, and four artillery guns.

The Vostok Group of Forces continued to advance into the depths of enemy defences. Troops of two mechanised brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a territorial defence brigade, and a national guard brigade have been hit near Novonikolayevka, Verbovoye, Sosnovka (Dnepropetrovsk region), and Malinovka (Zaporozhye region).

The AFU losses amounted to more than 325 troops, two tanks, an armoured fighting vehicle, 11 motor vehicles, two guns, and two electronic warfare stations.

The Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of a mechanised brigade of the AFU and a territorial defence brigade near Malaya Tokmachka (Zaporozhye region) and Tyaginka (Kherson region).

More than 55 troops, four motor vehicles, and five electronic warfare stations were neutralised.

Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack drones, missile troops and artillery of the Russian groups of forces have inflicted damage on port facilities, energy infrastructure, fuel depots that support the AFU, long-range storage and launch areas as well as temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 142 areas.

Air defence systems shot down four guided aerial bombs, two HIMARS MLRS projectiles, and 112 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the enemy has lost 667 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 89,275 unmanned aerial vehicles, 631 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,429 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,598 MLRS combat vehicles, 30,317 field artillery guns and mortars, and 43,534 support military vehicles.
